In 2023, she was honored as Choreographer of the Year by 8 National Talent. Beyond choreography, Mrs. Shanks is an accomplished director who has helmed more than 80 theatrical productions, many of which marked the first time those works were brought to the San Angelo stage.
Her influence extends beyond the stage, with former students now working professionally throughout Los Angeles and New York City, on Broadway national tours, at Walt Disney World, and across television and film. Mrs. Shanks holds an MFA in Theatre from Texas Woman's University and a Master of Science in Exercise Science from Angelo State University.
